Both teams were already assured advancement to the Second Round before kickoff, so Ecuador rested half of their first team. However Germany played at full strength.
It didn't take long for the Germans to score - 3rd minute to be exact - thanks to a Miroslav Klose goal set up by Bastian Schweinsteiger.

Miroslav Klose did it again in the 42nd minute for goal number two. A Michael Ballack flick made it happen.
Lukas Podolski scored the German third and final goal in the 57th minute.
