Only Angola had a chance of advancing to the next round at the start of this match, but they would need some luck.
It didn't appear though that luck was going to be on their side.
Angola were momentarily down to nine men after 21 minutes when Loco had to be stretchered off the pitch, just like compatriot Mateus a minute earlier.

In the 34th minute, Angola had four consecutive corners, but could not convert.
With Mexico down to 10 men and losing to Portugal in the other group match, Angola's Amado Flavio headed in a goal at the hour to give his team realistic hopes for a berth to the Second Round.
But it all came crashing a quarter hour later for the North Africans.
Iran's Sohrab Bakhtiarizadeh scored the equalizer, dashing all Angolan hope.
