2006 WORLD CUP IN GERMANY | NETHERLANDS vs ARGENTINA

THE IVORY COAST 3, SERBIA AND MONTENEGRO 2

Wednesday June 21, 2006 | 1st Round
It was a meaningless match with neither team able to advance from the group stage.

Regardless, there was plenty of action as the Ivory Coast came back to win with three consecutive goals after being down 2-0.

10 minutes on and Serbia and Montenegro scored their first goal of the tournament, when Nikola Zigic beat keeper Boubacar Barry.

Another 10 minutes, another S&M goal. Sasa Ilic scored.

Under strange circumstances, Ivory Coast pulled one back in the 35th minute.

They were awarded a penalty when S&M's Milan Dudic reached high in the air to bat the ball with his hand while in his area.

There was one problem though.

Dudic is not the goal keeper.

The Ivorians scored the spot kick, but the referee ruled the kick had to be retaken.

The second spot kick also went in, and the referee allowed it this time.

In stoppage time of the first half, Albert Nadj of Serbia and Montenegro was sent off after receiving his second yellow for a challenge on Abdulkader Keita.

In stoppage time of the second half, the referee evened things out by showing Ivorian Cyril Doromaud his second yellow card.

The Ivory Coast banged the woodwork in the 62nd minute, and five minutes later they equalized.

Bizarrely, Milan Dudic was at it again four minutes from time.

His hand ball in the area led to another penalty, another goal, and the winner for the Ivory Coast.
